Abstract

This study presents the results of a systematic review of the literature on agroecology and sustainable agroecosystems, with a focus on guaranteeing food security and maintaining ecosystem services in Latin America. Twenty-six articles in the Scopus database focusing on agroecological practices and ecosystem services were analyzed. The results revealed a growing interest in the subject of agroecology, especially in Brazil. The topics covered in the articles included food security in the face of climate change, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management. It is concluded that sustainable agroecosystems play a crucial role in maintaining ecosystem functions and services, thus contributing to achieving the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the ONU in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
