The objective of this work was to carry out a survey of plant species used for therapeutic purposes by farmers living in the "sertão sergipano". Were collected 38 species used to treat human diseases. It was verified that the culture expressed in the use of plants for therapeutic purpose brings to light the importance of the recognition of the traditional knowledge of the sertanejo
