This study analyzed the agricultural economic viability and environmental responsibility of agroecological and conventional based agriculture developed in Pedro Ramalho Settlement in Mundo Novo City, Mato Grosso do Sul State. In the first stage, soil and water samples were collected and sent to laboratories for chemical analysis and physics. Using the methodology state Index agricultural ecosystem - ESI, environmental evaluation was performed and it was found that the Settlement has good sustainability (ESI equal to 0.68). In the second stage, a socioeconomic and environmental questionnaire was applied to a sample of farmers, noting that the income of farmers in agroecological and conventional bases were similar in the cassava crop and dairy farming, the main economic activities undertaken at that place. The results indicated better soil fertility and water potability in agroecological management property, concluding that agroecological farming articulates the economic viability with environmental conservation.
