Abstract

Theguerobanut oil (Syagrus oleraceaBecc.), new in the Brazilian market, has cosmetic and medicinal properties that have the potential for being developed into new Cerrado sociobiodiversity products. The production chain initiative is run by a socioenvironmental network with the aim of revitalizing the cultural, economic, and environmental importance of the species through synergy between agrobiodiversity and income generation for family farmers. This study conducted ethnobotanical research to determine information about the traditional use of the palm tree, its ecological functions, traditional cultivations systems, harvesting and fruit processing techniques, and strategies adopted by community business endeavors to aggregate value and marketgueroba oil
