Prior visits were made with the intention to establish a rapport between the informants were interviewed 14 producers of annatto, for this, we used semi-structured forms that focused on issues of adoption of conservation practices and participatory breeding of annatto. We used the method of "snowball" and the data were supplemented by other informants using the effect of phasing in, was also used the criterion of completeness that is to stop the search as the answers were being repeated. It was found that the culture of annatto increases the income of producers of the locations visited and which occurs on farm conservation of the Peruvian variety Paulista. Variety Bico de Pato is in the process of genetic erosion by low acceptance among the producers surveyed. There is also the flow of annatto seeds among farmers.
