Abstract

This work deals with the theme of women and agrarian reform, and aims to understand the type of participation that rural women have shown in struggles for the conquest of land and better living conditions. The study was carried out in the Specialization Course in Peasant Family Agriculture and Rural Education on the methodology of action research. The work presents theoretical references and data referring to research carried out in a rural settlement in Ceará. We noticed that the participation of women is present and has an important meaning in the events that represent the struggle for the conquest of land, as well as their presence in the stages of constitution and organization of the settlement. The issue is that female farmers are deeply dissatisfied with the recognition of their actions, both by government institutions and by society in general, and especially by those closest to them, such as husbands, children and family members in general.
