The rising was accomplished involving 28 properties of the municipal districts of Atalaia do Norte,Benjamin Constant, São Paulo de Olivença and Tabatinga, in the Alto Solimões micro region, seeking toknow the reality and the importance of the cattle raising in the family farms. Questionnaires were usedwith inquiries on reproduction and handling of the flock, posture, animal sanity and commercializationseeking to characterize, by means of zootechnical indicative, the forms as the producers use and handlethe resources mobilized in the productive process. The cattle raising understands the extensive creationof bovine (it cuts) in natural posture and implanted in floodplain fields. The zootechnical acting, inproductivity terms is low. In spite of this reality, the cattle raising is more and more present in the strategyof the family explorations of the area.
