Handling and quality of landrace seeds in floodplain communities in the Médio Solimões, Amazonas

This study aimed to analyze socioeconomic aspects of farmers, management practices the and physiological quality of managed landraces seeds in floodplain of the Mamirauá Ana Amanã Sustainable Development Reserves communities in the Médio Solimões, Amazonas. The socioeconomic profile, diversity of species and management of native seeds were evidenced through ethnographic research methods. The physiological quality of 26 hits, six species, was evaluated by germination and vigor tests. The monthly income of farmers is low, being necessary resource predominance of retirement and government income transfer programs. Management procedures seeds require participatory technical guidelines in order to improve them. It was found that 54% of the accesses were affected, not reaching the minimum values of reference of the Ministry of Agriculture. The test for detection the pathogens could identified the presence of Penicillium spp., Aspergillus spp. and Fusarium spp. as phytopathogens of agronomic importance that contributed to the low vigor of most samples.
