The cambuí (Myrciaria tenella (DC.) O. Berg; Myrtaceae): extraction and income imputs in Ribeira do Pombal-Bahia

Exploring plants is a practice commonly observed in regions where there is the presence of species of interest to the population, with important socio-economic character for traditional families. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize the extraction of cambuí in the municipality of Ribeira do Pombal, Bahia. It was assessed their potential for income, in order to support possible proposals for conservation of the species and implementation in its extraction in the region studied. The study was conducted from December 2014 to January 2015, with the application of structured and semi-structured questionnaires, in villages of the municipality of Ribeira do Pombal, also including free local market in the city, with the questions referring to the 2014 crop, with a focus on production, marketing way, the price charged, used social technologies and ethnobotanical knowledge related to extraction of cambui in caatinga vegetation remaining. The extraction isa way to supplement the income for the local and region population, with R$ 900.00 on average earnings per family/crop.
