Abstract

The Rio Grande do Sul state is the largest producer of walnut-pecan (Carya illinoinensis) in Brazil, and this crop contributed significantly to the increase of the income, mainly in small farms, however, some diseases limit their production, and the leaf-spot (Pestalotiopsis clavispora (GF Atk.) Steyaert) is the main one. The objective of this work was to test the efficiency of different isolated of Trichoderma spp. in the control ofP. clavispora. For that, leaves were collected of pecan-trees in several places of Rio Grande do Sul state and 12 colonies of Trichoderma spp. were isolated of the leaves. In addition, 15 Trichoderma spp.colonies were obtained from the Fungal Culture Collection of the Phytopathology Laboratory of DFS -UFSM. All of them were confronted, in vitro, with two pathogenic isolates of P. clavispora. It was observedthat all the Trichoderma spp. isolates had antagonistic efficiency in confrontation with the two isolates of P.clavispora, having a resistance variation between two pathogen isolates.
