Abstract

Banana is the main fruit for organic marketing of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Yellow Sigatoka represents a serious menace for the culture and integrated management is necessary to reduce losses. This experiment evaluated resistance of 21 genotypes of banana to Yellow Sigatoka under organic cultivation in south coastal of Santa Catarina State. Severity index (ISD), Youngest Leaf Diseased (YDS) and number of leaves (NF) were evaluated in February of 2004-to-2006. “Nam”, “Maçã Tropical”, “Figo Cinza”, “Thap Maeo”, “Pioneira” and “Figo” showed significantly low ISD and high YDS, values similar to resistant cultivars. No differences were observed for number of leaves among cultivars. High correlacion (r= -0,72) was detected for ISD and YDS variables. Resistance of genotypes in organic system was similar to conventional system
