Even when the grammatical categories and the syntactical elements have been extremely relevant, both in the Greco-Latin linguistic tradition and in structuralism and generativism, the already mentioned units have played a scarce role in the models of discourse analysis. This- we believe- is due mainly to the fact that the uprising of interest for the study of discourse has favoured the study of social and cognitive aspects. This work shows on one hand, the possible reasons of the disunion among these areas of study and on the other the arguments for the necessary and undeniable interaction among the grammatical, pragmatic and discourse aspects.
