Abstract

This article describes the origin and the development of museums in pedagogical establishments and schools in Italy in the period that goes from the second half of the XIX century to the first two decades of the XX century. During this time quite a few initiatives were organized within the framework of the World Exhibitions. In Italy too, many museums came to light with distinctive and pedagogical features.

This article points out the different objectives set up by the museums supported by the Ministry of Education and those promoted by Universities and individual schools.
