Publication of the first volume of the dossier “Pachukanis, insurgencies and praxis” (v. 10, n. 2, 2024)
It is with great satisfaction that InSURgence: journal of rights and social movements publishes the first volume of the dossier Pachukanis, insurgencies and praxis: 100 years of “General Theory of Law and Marxism”. Organized by Guilherme Cavicchioli Uchimura, Moisés Alves Soares and Ricardo Prestes Pazello, the dossier presents reflections proposing an updated assessment based on the Latin American reality of the contributions of Evguiéni Bronislávovitch Pachukanis (1891-1937) on the occasion of the centenary of the first publication of his main work, General Theory of Law and Marxism.
The issue, referring to the semester of July and December 2024, can be consulted on the InSURgência website and is also available in full in a single file.
The Pachukanis, insurgencies and praxis dossier is the result of a co-production between InSURgence and the Law and Práxis Magazine, which will publish its second volume in 2024.
The dossier includes interviews with Zarianna Vladimirovna Solomko, a prominent Russian researcher of Pachukanian thought today, and José Gonzalo Trigoso Agudo, a Bolivian labor lawyer and former Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security of Bolivia responsible for editions of the classic works by Stutchka and Pachukanis.
With this dossier edition, InSURgência inaugurates the Walking Words section with previously unpublished translations of the texts The Development of Legal Socialism, by Edmond Laskine, and The Marxist Conception of Law: Notes Not Just for Jurists, by Piotr Stutchka. In addition to 11 unpublished articles selected by the Organizing Committee, the edition also brings together entries, poetic expressions, reviews and historical documents related to the life and work of Pachukanis. We also publish in this edition, as a separate edition, Marxist comics of law (or when a comic becomes a social relationship), with text by Ricardo Prestes Pazello and illustrations by Lucas Fier, which propose to teach Pachukanis' thought in comics based on General Theory of Law and Marxism.
