Abstract

Aiming to find out how students of French for Reading Knowledge dealt with bilingual dictionaries (BD), as well as assess BD functionality, level I and II students of these courses were required to answer a questionnaire. The assessment tool consisted of three parts: the first contextualized the student's point of view towards learning French and the BD used; the second intended to assess whether or not the dictionary was functional, through the interpretation of small texts and questions about lexicon, syntagms, anaphoric procedures, among others, which could be a problem to students; the third asked for an opinion towards the required task and BD used. Results showed there were gaps between lexicographic dictionaries and students' real needs.
