This paper describes and analyses the results of an empirical research study carried out to measure trainee translators' lexical competence and electronic dictionary research skills. First, a pedagogical approach to enhance and improve both lexical competence and electronic dictionary search skills was applied to trainee translators. Following the pre-experimental design (one group pre-test/post-test design), a quantitative study was performed and descriptive and inferential statistics were used to obtain reliable results.
