Raízes: primitivos sintáticos defectivos

Resumen
Trabalhos recentes sobre a composição defendem que compostos primários não-composicionais são formados a partir de duas raízes nuas diretamente combinadas na sintaxe (ZHANG, 2007; BAUKE, 2014; DE BELDER, 2015). Tal assunção, inerentemente associada à abordagem marantziana para múltiplos Spell-Out, tem consequências indesejáveis para um modelo não-lexicalista de gramática e introduz uma série de custos computacionais no espaço combinatorial. Neste trabalho, argumentamos que a raiz é um primitivo sintático defectivo e que sua natureza defectiva exige, imprescindivelmente, sua combinação a um núcleo categorizador ou a um feixe de traços gramaticais, levando a uma alternância léxico-gramatical obrigatória na sintaxe.
