Abstract

In this work I present stories and characteristics of people who, for several reasons, live or lived on the border of languages, cultures and societies, and, for this reason, had to translate their speeches, expressions, actions and bodies between two or more worlds. This paper is based on historical, sociological, anthropological and translational aspects, with emphasis on the subject who (self) translates, and not on his/her discourse or translation object. The conclusion is that the experience of translation, of being between languages and cultures, also affects the body, placing the subject who translates between different bodies as needed.
