UMA REFLEXÃO TRADUTÓRIA

Frankenstein ratificou o espaço do terror na literatura e despertou inúmeras gerações para o fascínio que o monstro de Mary Shelley é capaz de acender a partir de sensações de repulsa, como a repugnância e o horror. A obra de Mary Shelley surpreende, de imediato, pela habilidade poética da autora no desenlace da trama, mas a aura aterrorizante em que o leitor é imerso é construída por meio de fios cuidadosamente tecidos para orientar a forma e o compasso com que os “olhos” do narrador apreendem as cenas e, por conseguinte, como ele as descreve. Tendo em mente o alcance que tem a imagem do monstro de Frankenstein, são apresentadas aqui algumas reflexões sobre o olhar da tradução na recriação da imagética de Frankenstein pela literatura e pela tradução intersemiótica para o cinema, apontando os efeitos destas descrições na sobrevida da obra e da crítica moral de Mary Shelley.
