Résumé

Quando Gustavo Ribeiro me convidou para proferir essa conferência aceitei sem saber qual seria o seu tema geral. Talvez isso tenha vindo a calhar porque “Nação e Cidadania” não está entre os muitos tópicos que têm me ocupado ao longo desses anos de investigação etnográfica e escrita antropológica. Por outro lado, sinto que toda tentativa de entender o que está envolvido na produção do conhecimento antropológico relaciona-se a qualquer interesse corrente e que pensamentos indiretos sobre um tópico freqüentemente podem ser elucidativos.
