Some reflections on Anti-militarist Art in contemporary Russia, or on the somberness and sobriety of artistic creation in authoritarian contexts.
Keywords:
Anti-militarist art, Russian Art, Street Art, Performance, Soviet ArtAbstract
The article aims to describe how anti-militarist art in contemporary Russia is inscribed in the history of local art, guided by some particularities inherent to the functioning of the art system in a context of censorship and the impossibility of institutional circulation of works, as happened with conceptual art in the Soviet Union, or with the movement called "actionism" in the post-Soviet period. It is also intended to find out how since the beginning of 2022, with the military invasion of Ukraine, the artistic scene has changed in Russia, what were the impacts of repression on the artistic class and how activist artistic making has changed.
