Study About Evolutionary Change on Creative Thinking

Based on Piaget's theory of cognition dynamics, this evolutive-descriptive research investigates forms by
which the creative activity appears in drawn representation and their links with evolutive changes of potenciais and needs at
different ages. Evidences of these forms were searched on 749 drawings produced by 66 middle class students of a private
school (4;6 to 15;9 years old) working with a geometrical figure (semicircle) as a starting model. Those drawings are quantitatively
and qualitatively analysed concerning the variations of presentative schemata (assimilation) and procedure schemata
(accomodation) and for creative thinking characteristics of fluency, flexibility and elaboration. Results show flexibility and
elaboration increases to the detriment of fluency as age advances. Therefore, three stages of evolutive changes on creative
thinking are discussed as linked with evolution of potenciais according to the Piagetian view.
