The first 60 years of history of Brasília are intertwined with the 60 years of friendship between Brazil and the Republic of Korea and, at the University the Brasília, the im-plementation of the King Sejong Institute doubles as a symbol of this approximation between the two countries. Harking back to the events prior to the installation of the institute at the University of Brasília, the following words aim to record the work of several people that helped broaden the opportunities of Korean language education at the University of Brasília. As such, a parallel will be made with the samt’aegeuk sym-bol focusing on three people who have accompanied the first 30 months of the institute ”“ Yong-Jae Kim from the Korea-Brazil Society; Sandra Jang, teacher of the King Sejong Brasília Institute; and the author, in his role as head of Centre for Asian Studies (NEASIA/CEAM).
