Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The registration on the system and posterior access, by login and password, are mandatory for the submission of works, as well to monitor the current editorial process. Access an existing account or Sign Up.

Conditions for submission

As part of the submission process, the authors are obligated to verify the conformity of the submission in relation to the following listed items. The submissions that are not in conformity to the standards will be returned to the authors.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and it is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, it shall be justified on the section “Comments to the editor”.
  • The archive for submission is in the following formats: Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF.
  • When possible, the references URLs are informed.
  • The text follow all of the Cenário’s rules and the template available on the “Submission” link; the charts and figures are inserted on the text, not on the end of the document or in attachment.
  • The author generated the ORCID and informed it on the first page of the submission.
  • The text follows the style patterns and bibliographic requirements described in “Authors Guidelines”, on the “About the Journal” page.

Authors Guidelines

For text submissions, the following rules must be criteriously followed.

Editorial Board Decisions

  1. The submitted work will be assessed, at first, by the journal’s Editorial Board, aiming to determine if the article is aligned to its focus and scope and free of possible plagiarism (verification by anti-plagiarism software), the articles that exceed 15% of similarity with any existing academic material will go through an analysis process to verify the occurrence of plagiarism, according to Committee On Publication Ethics (COPE) instructions. After this stage, if the text has potential for publication, it will be forwarded to the opinion of, at least, two members of the Scientific Board, according to the Double Blind Peer Review system.
  2. The authors will be notified by the chief editor about the acceptance of refusal of its works based on the received opinions. After submission, the average time for publication of the approved texts is 12 (twelve) weeks.
  3. Eventual suggestions of modification of structure and/or content that may be necessary will be notified to the author for contact, which will be responsible to make them and retransmit the texts by the deadline established by the Editorial Board. Opinions, analysis and theoretical content , as well as grammatical, orthographic and syntax correction, are entire responsibility of the authors. The Editorial Board reserves the right to make changes on the originals, aiming to keep the quality of the publication, while respecting the style and opinions of the authors.
  4. Additions or modifications will not be allowed on the accepted works, after they are forwarded to the final artwork and published.
  5. Translations of works to portuguese must be followed by written authorization by the author or, if is the case, the copyright holders or its legal representatives.
  6. Translations of public domain works must be followed by a critical introduction and/or footnotes with comments about the text, being mandatory the register of the manuscript alongside the Escritório de Direitos Autorais da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional: http://www.bn.br/portal/?nu_pagina=28.
  7. In the submission, authors must include, mandatorily, the references used on the article.

Authors Guidelines: Presentation of the Originals

All of the journal’s submitted texts must be presented in electronic format, typed in word processing programs such as MS Word or supported by it.

The author must download the Template and write the article from it, respecting all of the pre-established text-formatting.

Article structure:

  • cover sheet [with the author’s personal data: name, academic education and academic title(s), address, institution, electronic mail, ORCID  number - mandatory];
  • article title;
  • abstract and title in three idioms (portuguese, spanish and english), followed after the respective title in each idiom;
  • key-words (up to 5) in the three abstract languages;
  • introduction without title;
  • article text, with images, charts and tables, if is the case;
  • bibliographic references;
  • end notes;

  • The cover sheet must contain the title of the article, clarification about the origin of the article [financed thesis or project, with all the possible informations, up to 4 lines], name of the author(s), institution affiliation, electronic mail of the author(s). If there is more than one author, it must be clearly identified. Articles with more than 4 authors will be denied.
  • The articles, always unpublished, must have between 12 to 22 numbered pages, with Arial size 11 font, with left and superior margins of 3,0 and right and inferior margins of 2,0 single spaced, justified text.

The critical analysis must have, at most, 4 pages with Arial size 11 font and remaining features described above.

  • In the first page, the article title must be in small letters size 14 arial font, bold, centralized at the top of the page, single spaced. Other titles that will accompany the three abstracts (portugueses, spanish and english) in bold 11 font, following the font of each abstract;
  • The subtitles will be graphically distinguished between different hierarchies or equals [all with Arial 12, bold and italic font]. In case there are low hierarchies in each article seccion, use 11 Arial, bold and italic font. Do not initiate a new page for every subtitle.
  • Do not use footnotes, but endnotes with size 10 arial font, single spaced and in sequential roman number.
  • Resumo (in portuguese), Resumen (in spanish) and Abstract (in english) must be in size 11 arial font, justified, single spaced, containing 100 to 150 words (up to 10 lines). The key-words must be between three and five (in portuguese, spanish and english) arranged below, respectively. The words must be separated by semicolons, started in lower case.
  • Illustrations, tables, charts, figures and related must be sent in two formats: i) individual separated archives - in JPEG or GIF formats; ii) also on the body of the text (never as attachments). Must be numbered in sequence and arabic numbers, identified in the body of the text. The same procedure must be taken for charts, graphics and figures. Numbers and titles for each of these elements must be in its superior part and the subtitles or sources, on its inferior part. For that, you must use size 10 arial font.
  • To submit the manuscript, the author must do a upload on the journal’s system, with the correct archive, in MS Word 2003 or more recent format.
  • The presentation of numeric and statistic informations must follow rigorously the APA manual recommendations.
  • We must mention that, in case of portuguese written articles, any inconsistencies between the APA manual guidelines and writing in portuguese must be solved by the authors, according to the general rules of writing in portuguese language.The text formatting of the manuscript and tables construction, figures and other elements must follow strictly to the APA manual recommendations. We suggest that the authors appraise, before submission, if your manuscript is according to the verification list presented in pages 241-243 of the APA manual. In case the article does not follow the APA guidelines, in formatting or any other mentioned elements, it will not be sent for appraisal.
