AN ANALYSIS OF THE SPEECH BY PRESIDENT JAIR BOLSONARO

The analisys study presents the results of a content analysis of the speech of President Jair Bolsonaro, delivered at the 108th anniversary of the Assembly of God in Brazil, in the city of Belém, state of Pará, on June 13, 2019 and published in Jair Bolsonaro's Official YouTube Channel on June 14, 2019. Although representative democracy is the political regime currently adopted in Brazil, considering the existing political and social scenario, the objective is to verify whether in the speech of the elected representative, there are elements of other authoritarian political regimes and their relation to democracy. To do so, three main categories were created, which correspond to the authoritarian regimes analyzed, which were classified into three subcategories each. For that, the content analysis was used as a research methodology, based on the teachings of Bardin and Orlandi, as a central theoretical reference. It was concluded by the strong incidence of elements allusive to authoritarian regimes in the discourse, these being mostly related to fascism.
