Abstract

 The central objective of this paper is to contribute to the discussion about the process of internationalization of Higher Education in Brazil by offering some elements concerning the connections of English language proficiency tests and their certification with political and economic aspects, and, mainly, how these aspects are discoursively  represented by official agencies through official documents and advertising texts belonging to the SwB ( Science without Borders) and LsB ( Languages without Border) programs. The considerations woven in this text are part of a research project (still in progress) developed within the research group Foreign languages  teacher education.
