Abstract

This essay aims to raise theoretical questions about the concept of landrace agrobiodiversity and the importance of integrating on farm and ex situ conservation, in order to support the continuity of farmers' experiences in the rescue and maintenance of landrace cultivars of agricultural species. Landrace agrobiodiversity consists of agricultural genetic resources over which farmers have full and complete autonomy of use. The plant genetic resources components of this agrobiodiversity are conserved through the management of men and women, and thus remain thanks to the informal system of seed production, which is carried out in a decentralized manner by family and traditional farmers. In order to guarantee and strengthen this conservation, the integrated strategy favors its perpetuation, while ensuring its plasticity and maintaining genetic variability in these cultivars.
