Agroecological transition from traditional farming to non-burning agriculture: changes in tilage of soil

This article deals with the practices resulting from the farm transition of traditional burning to unburned fields in the Barra do Leme community, belonging to Barra do Leme settlement, Pentecoste, Ceará. The survey was conducted through a case study, a survey of qualitative and quantitative data, participant observation, directive and non-directive interviews. The results show that the organization and the environmental militancy of the community were fundamental for the decision for the transition for a no-burn agriculture. The work of preparing the land for new cultivation areas has become harder, from there, the cultivation areas were fixed; the coivaras were modified; fertilization was incorporated into the mowing as a form of alternative soil compost replacing fires and was decreased time devoted to agriculture.
