Abstract

This study aimed to diagnose the conditions of preservation of the springs areas of the micro watershed of the São Bento river, belonging to the sub-basin of the Santa Maria do Doce river, São Roque do Canaã, Espírito Santo state, Brazil, and to propose recovery and preservation actions of these springs. Ten (10) springs were diagnosed, being that each of which was divided into four quadrants, evaluating data from the native vegetation cover area and the presence of disturbance factors. All springs evaluated were diagnosed in advanced degradation process, requiring isolation, reforestation with implementation of appropriate species, proper distribution of different land uses and implementation of soil conservation practices and water in watershed contribution/recharge of spring.
