Abstract

It has been discussed the proposition for Rural Extension service which fill specificities of indigenous people such as ethnic characteristics and respecting socio-cultural concern. This work had the objective to analyze the practice of rural extension service in indigenous areas located in Pernambuco, make by Ater assistants from the Agronomic Institute of Pernambuco (IPA). The research consisted of how the Ater professionals came under focus in relation to their perception and how they act doing Rural Extension service in indigenous areas. The research was qualitative data basis. The study showed that the activities and policies carried out in indigenous areas do not consider the indigenous Ater based on ethnic specificity. It is concluded that there is a necessity to carry out policies and actions that are linked to socio-cultural expressivities of the indigenous settlement.
