Organic farmers and sustainability.

Socioeconomic development and access to information and knowledge awakened consumers to the importance of maintaining health through healthy eating and promoting, consciously, of sustainable production processes. The conquest of a life long-lived and productive coupled with production based on ethical principles is a trend that is reflected in the increased demand for organic products. To understand the behavior of producers facing these changes took place research with the aim of analyzing the perception of aspects of sustainability, from the viewpoint of organic producers in the region of Florianópolis - SC. For this, we used the technique of the Collective Subject Discourse for analysis of the collected data through semi-structured interviews applied to organic producers. The research showed that the perception of producers, environmental aspects of sustainability have greater relevance. It also became evident that economic aspects related to the demands imposed by the market and low price paid to organic producers have become an obstacle to the expansion and sustainability of the activity.
