Brazilian agroecological experiences: an analysis in the light of local development

This study aimed to show the convergence of agroecology and the theory of endogenous local development and to analyze the experiences agroecological based national indicators for local development. For that, a comparison was made of the two approaches, showing their similarities through five indicators. We conducted a survey of experiences also agroecological published and analyzed 146 reports covering 13,072 producers distributed in 127 municipalities. Most producers presented a profile of family farmers, and yet they do tool carriers organic production. It was observed the presence of associative and support of external organizations in most experiments reported. Based on the analyzes, it was concluded that the agroecological transition may be regarded as an endogenous local development strategy and as such, the potential for development rural socially correct in Brazil.
