Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the results of the survey of family agriculturists in agroecological transition in the Territory of Caparaó, state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, and discuss the factors involved in this process. The study reveals the potential of agroecological systems to provide greater sustainability for family production. However, the agriculturists face great difficulties to develop this potential, highlighting the lack of more technology and technical assistance with agroecological approach, the lack of a kind of rural credit that meets the demands and peculiarities of the transition process and the lack of support for fair trade.
