Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the production and quality of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) with different doses of cattle manure. The experiment was conducted in experimental area of the Departmentof Plant Sciences University of the Semi-Arid (UFERSA), Mossoró - RN. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four replications and five treatments, which are: 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 t ha-1 cattle manure. The variables analyzed were: total root production, marketable production of roots, average weight of marketable roots, shoot height, content of soluble solids, content of ascorbic acid, acidity, pH and firmness of the root. It was found that doses of manure had no influence on soluble solids content, pH and firmness of the roots. For total production, trade and mass of marketable roots, and plant height, content of ascorbic acid and acidity, better results were obtained with the maximum dose of manure (80 t ha-1), demonstrating that the application of the tax organic in tropical soils is of great importance for the success of agriculture
