Tolstoy’s library and the Museum itself in all its interdisciplinary nature present Tolstoy’s interest in Russian and World Literature, and in other fields of human knowledge. The original buildings, orchards, parks, woods and fields were mentioned and described in Tolstoy’s works of fiction such as War and Peace, Anna Karenina, Childhood, Morning of a Russian Landowner and several others. They are like the living illustrations to these works of Tolstoy. Thus the Yasnaya Polyana Museum-estate exists as the vivid manifestation of Tolstoy’s multifaceted literary genius.
