In recent years, professionals are recognized that conservation is not just a specialized service for the preservation of objects in museums. Actually, conservation is a culturally significant activity, an activity that implies valuing objects, and an activity that necessarily affects people who, in different ways, are related to these objects. For this reason, some professionals are looking for collaboration with other researchers and different museum audiences (e.g. indigenous peoples). They are seeing this collaboration practices as a possibility for mutual learning. In this paper we will deal with a collaborative experience that we had during the process of conservation and restoration of musealized archaeological ceramic vessels of the Asurini do Xingu indigenous people.
