Regulation

Art. 1º - The journal História, historias is financially supported and a legal responsibility of the
University of Brasilia (UnB) Department of History Graduate Program (PPGHIS). Its goal is to
publish research in the field of History and related areas.

Art. 2º - It is an open access online only journal published twice a year.

Art. 3º - The journals is managed by an Editorial Board.
§ 1º - The Editorial Board is composed by five members distributed as follows: one professor of
the PPGHIS, one (or two) PhD professors associated to a foreign university graduate program
and two (or three) professors associated to a Brazilian graduate program.
§ 2º Members of the Editorial Board will have a three year term office with no prorogation.
§ 3º Members of the Editorial Board neither may be authors nor organize dossier for the
journal.
§ 4º Roles of the Editorial Board:
I - Select its new members after the three year term.
II - Attend to regular meetings.
III ”“ Formulate editorial policies and review each submission.
IV ”“ Approve composition of the Advisory Board.
V ”“ Select members for the Advisory Board.
VI ”“ Resolve over omissions in legislation.

Art. 4º - The journal is directed by the Editor in Chief.
§ 1º Roles of the Editor in Chief:
I - Ascertain that submitted manuscripts are evaluated under an ethical and transparent
process and that journal´s frequency is strictly observed.
II ”“ Organize, along with Editorial Staff, the daily routine of the journal.
III ”“ Summon up Editorial Board meetings.
IV ”“ Write an Editorial of each published issue.
V ”“ Report journal activities twice a year to the Editorial Board.
VI ”“ Report journal activities once a year to the PPGHIS.

Art. 5º - The journal has an Advisory Board.
§ 1º The Advisory Board composition will be approved by the Editorial Board. Members are
selected for a three year term extendable if both parties agree.
§ 2º The Advisory Board will have up to 15 members with PhD degree in History or related
fields, associated to national and international graduate university programs or to highly
reputed research institutions.
§3º Professors affiliated to the PPGHIS may not be members of the Advisory Board.
§4º Members of the Advisory Board may not publish in the journal.

Art. 6º - The journal has three sections:
§ 1º Dossier ”“ This section is organized by one or two PhD degree in History or related fields
affiliated to the PPGHIS or other national or international graduate educational institution.
Interested authors must submit to the Editorial Board a proposal with title, goal, planed
subject and an author résumé. If approved, there will be a thematic public call for papers. Each
submitted manuscript will be evaluated by at least two reviewers. Approved papers that due
to editorial constriction will not be part of the thematic dossier, will be published in the next
two following issues, with author´s legal agreement. Authors will receive the revised version
for their final approval. The proponents of the dossier will be responsible for writing its
presentation.

§2º Original Articles ”“ The journal continuously receives original articles. Each one is evaluated
by at least two reviewers. If approved the manuscript will be edited and the final version sent
to author for approval.

§3º Book Reviews - The journal continuously receives book reviews. The editor in chief along
with the Editorial Board will evaluate the submitted reviews.

§4º Occasionally, by decision of the Editorial Board, the journal will publish translations of
already published material if considered very relevant to the field of history.

§5º  Each issue must have at least seven articles.
Art. 7º Submitted manuscripts must be in accordance with História, histórias´s editorial rules
and observe norms and use of the chosen language. It may not be under evaluation in any
other journal. Once submitted, it means that author authorizes publication on the journal
“História, histórias”.

Art. 8º The journal does not share any accountability for ideas expressed in published
manuscripts, they are author’s fully responsibilities.
Art.9º Besides Portuguese, manuscripts can be also published in Spanish, English and French.
Art. 10º Authors from PPGHIS may publish only one article per issue.
