The limits of the body on the language: subjectivity on the sidelines in Diamela Eltit

We analyze the novel Los vigilantes, by Chilean author Diamela Eltit, from the (dis)ordering proposed by the body-language of the child whose monologues begin and conclude the text. In this novel, the child will lead language to its limits, on the verge of dissolving into his drives. The marginality of the child, his misfit in relation to rationality, will allow the subtraction to the discipline and vigilance imposed by social organization to which mother and son are subjected during a good part of the novel.
