THE EXPERIENCE OF SOCIAL WORKERS IN THEIMPLEMENTATION OF VIDEO CALLS WITH INPATIENTS WITH COVID-19 IN CARDIOPULMONARY REFERENCE HOSPITAL IN FORTALEZA/CE

Abstract

The article aimed to highlight the experiences of social workers during the New Coronavirus pandemic through the implementation of the project entitled: “Humanized care by videoconference to patients treated in isolation units for COVID-19”, since there was the suspension of companions and visits within hospital hospitalization units due to SARS-COV- 2, which has affected Brazil since March 2020. The locus of research chosen was a hospital of the network tertiary level public health care specialized in cardiopulmo-
nary care, located in Fortaleza (CE). Methodologically, the study has a qualitative character, considering the experiences and observations of the professional category in this institution. Information was collected from 08 (eight) professionals in the area of Social Work through semstructured interviews. It was verified that video calls proved to be a technological initiative used with the objective of reducing the exacerbation of the of the fear and suffering of service users and their families, with the Social Work professional body as the main enabler of this access. With the study, it can be concluded, according to the interviewed professionals, that the implementation of this communication tool provided moments of interaction and dialogue between those involved, minimizing the suffering of patients and their families, bringing some recognized results of this action: videoconferences as a promoter of health and full recovery of patients affected by Covid-19, as well as a tool that helped prevent the worsening of the health of some patients.
