The Professional project category in the social work century XXI

Abstract

the study aims to present the theoretical and methodological foundations of the professional project of social work, exploring its political dimension based on the theoretical contributions of György Lukács, Sergio Lessa and José Paulo Netto. It resulted from a bibliographical research and analysis of the contemporary intellectual production of the 1990s, a time when the so-called Social Service's ethical-political project was consolidated. To understand the project category, we rely on the Lukácsian theory of the ontology of the social being, intelligible in the theoretical contributions of Lessa and Gilmaisa Costa. And for the professional project of Social Work, of contemporary production by José Paulo Netto. According to Lukács, projects are intrinsic to human life and have a fundamental role in the processes of building life in society. They assume different types, according to their particularities. They can be individual or collective and, in these, professionals. But, all of them, in essence, have an ethical-political dimension.
