This paper aims to report on the experience of the YouTube channel of the libraries of the Universidade Federal Fluminense, with the purpose of informing users, bringing the academic community closer together, and strengthening the social role of the university library in critical and civic education. The channel was created in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when librarians had to adapt their in-person work to an online format. The methodology is characterized by its exploratory nature and qualitative-quantitative approach. The research consisted of extracting information from the channel itself, such as the number of viewers and subscribers, the number of videos, YouTube platform statistics, and screenshots, from which indicators provided by the video platform itself were extracted. The research was conducted from May 13, 2020, to the beginning of August 2025. The Bibliotecas.UFF channel features videos and live streams such as guidance on using the collection, information services, training on accessing scientific databases, standardization of academic papers, lectures and workshops on open access, events such as student welcome events, Somos + UFF, Academic Agenda, and various other topics. We observed that, with the creation of this YouTube channel, there was an increase in the use of the products and services of the UFF Libraries. It is hoped that this work can contribute to expanding democratic access to information services. The channel is an important tool to assist users in information literacy.
