Analysis of psychopharmaceuticals prescriptions in a basic health unit of the Federal District

The contemporary concern with the quality of health products and services has drawn attention in the area of health management. Thus, in recent years, multiple management tools and several investigations have been developed to understand the scenarios and challenges of public health and, inevitably, this would not be different for the management of pharmaceutical care. Thus, in line with this discussion, the present study aimed to analyze the prescriptions of psychotropic drugs in a basic health unit in the Federal District, Brazil. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, collecting secondary data from second copies of prescriptions dispensed in November 2019. 256 prescriptions for psychotropic drugs were evaluated, of which 76% are drugs belonging to list C1 of Ordinance No. 344 /1998 and 24% are part of the B1 list. The solid pharmaceutical form prevailed in prescriptions. Frequent prescription of the following drugs was observed: fluoxetine, amitriptyline, carbamazepine, valproic acid, clonazepam and phenobarbital. Only one prescription contained the trade name of the drug, which was not part of the list of essential drugs in the Federal District. The results obtained contribute to the understanding of pharmaceutical assistance by local management, as well as to the production of knowledge in the area of pharmacoepidemiology in the context of primary health care.
