Tecnologia e ciência no gabinete de curiosidades
Abstract
In this article, we aim to reflect on the relationships between art, science and technology materialized in the work called The Cabinet of Curiosities (2017), by Rosana Paulino. This visual artist from São Paulo appropriates elements of hegemonic material culture, subverting technical codes, in the sense used by Feenberg (2010), to build multiple narratives and critical perspectives. We seek to understand the discourses woven in this work through the arrangements and artifacts that make up the exhibitors/window displays. Rosana Paulino questions the neutrality of science and technology, highlighting the power struggles and racism present in these social practices. Underlying the analysis, we will work from Bal (2016) on the aesthetic and political game that refers to the various intertwined temporalities in the cabinets.
