In this article, I analyze a criticism by Richard
Dawkins to the idea that theology may help us to
understand something about our origins. With a criticism
to Dawkins' view, I intend to discuss the concept
of theology itself and its relationship with philosophy,
particularly the philosophy of religion. In addition, I
also present a proposal of distinction among theology,
religion and the sciences of religion. In the end, I
outline an answer to the question about the place of
theology in today's academic and scientific environment.
