The Amazon and the new paradigms for rural development: a brief theoretical reflection

Abstract

This article is a review of the literature produced from an eye on the reflexes of modernization policiesland in the Amazon in the traditional system of land use for farmers in the community where São João were implanted agroforestry (SAF's) by Raízes da terra Project. The methodology blended quantitative and qualitative approaches conducting interviews, questionnaires, observations, literature reviews and case study of fifteen families. The main conclusions show that the implementation of agroflorestry systems was a suggestion idealized and organized by external agents. This agents know the local reality and through the Project Raízes da Terra (approved with predetermined marks). They promoted the agroflorestry intervention long for rural development and sustainable of the local family agriculture.
