This paper attempts to investigate how performance records work not only as points of access to an action which is not likely to happen again, but as possible resources for its updating. Based on Chris Burden’s work (1946-2015), the target of this article is to understand what elements are used by the artist in order to adapt his performances to new bases and contexts, thus building records which relate to the original event, but also become autonomous and can create new meanings.
