Abstract

This paper presents a literature review of the theme of memory and its complex processes of selection, storage and recall that affect the individual and collective level, the construction of identities. It presents brain research, exploring memory as faculty and phenomenon. Discusses the concept of collective memory, suggesting a reflection of notion of sharing and emphasizes the forgetting in the memory process. Proposes a reflection about memory status
in the network age and recognizes the overabundance of information that characterizes the contemporary time, where the network sometimes is seen as a potential for collective and collaborative knowledge building, and sometimes is seen as a risk, may become the era of forgetfulness.
