Abstract

In this paper, we will make, initially, abrief reviewon the development ofscience museumssince themodern era, trying to contemplate their placein the educational and cultural systemsand knowledge production.Next, we will discuss the role of theseinstitutions(including science centres) in the contemporary worldand howthey are ableto articulateeducation,popularization of scienceand historywithin the museum context, without losing sight ofthe social commitment.
