(Citation practices in academic writing

This article examines the citation practices found in texts published in scientific periodicals of Anthropology and Psychology in Portuguese. The differences found in both form and function of the citation practices are attributed to the differences in the nature of scientific investigation andthe construction of knowledge in the two disciplines.
