Norman Fairclough beyond the three-dimensional model perspective

Abstract

The article presents three phases of Fairclough's work and highlights his current version of CDA entitled 'argumentative turn'. This CDA approach focuses on deliberation, political discourse and the issues of argument that mark the continuity of advances from the social theory of discourse beyond the analytical proposal of his three-dimensional model in Discourse and social change (1992). The article shows that there is a new version of Faircloughian CDA with an emphasis on practical argumentation and public deliberation in the decision-making and action process in order to overcome political crises within the context of democratic societies.

Karl Heinz Efken, Universidade Católica de Pernambuco

Karl Heinz Efken possui doutorado em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2003), mestrado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1993) e graduação em Licenciatura Plena em Filosofia pela Universidade Católica de Pernambuco (1986), curso de Filosofia Pura - Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule St. Georgen/Alemanha (1979), graduação em Teologia pelo Instituto de Teologia do Recife (1983). Atualmente é professor Adjunto IV da Universidade Católica de Pernambuco. Exerceu a função de professor gestor do American College of Brasilian Studies. Foi coordenador do curso de filosofia da Universidade Católica de Pernambuco até o ano de 2011. É avaliador do MEC/INEP de cursos de graduação em filosofia. É professor e pesquisador do curso de filosofia, do Programa de Pós-graduação stricto senso (mestrado) em Filosofia e do Programa de Pós-graduação de mestrado e doutorado em Ciências da Linguagem da UNICAP. Exerceu até maio de 2021 a função de coordenador do mestrado em Filosofia/Unicap. Até 2019, atuou como pesquisador, membro e coordenador do Comitê de Ética da Universidade Católica de Pernambuco. Suas atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão giram em torno de temas ligados à filosofia (filosofia política, filosofia da linguagem), ao pensamento de Jürgen Habermas e à educação (formação profissional, avaliação, projetos pedagógicos, inter e transdisciplinaridade), à ética (ética geral, ética do discurso, direitos humanos, justiça) e a Análise do Discurso.
